Giacomo Agostini won fifteen world championships for MV Agusta. He was the most successful rider in Grand Prix history on the most successful factory team. In 1974, he signed with Yamaha.

The following year, he won the 500cc world title — on a Yamaha. The only rider to win the premier class with both an Italian and a Japanese manufacturer.

MV Agusta raced one more season. Then stopped. The dynasty that had defined Italian GP racing ended the year Agostini left.
