Big investments. Local projects. A stronger California forest workforce.

Over the last five years, $129 million has supported 131 projects across California through CAL FIRE’s Business and Workforce Development Grant Program.

These investments have supported programs that provide education, training, and tools for people interested in careers in forestry. Grant funding has also helped provide equipment to reduce hazardous vegetation across the landscape, expand prescribed fire training and certification opportunities, and improve biomass utilization.

Together, these efforts support the health and resilience of California’s forests while building the skills and knowledge needed to reduce wildfire risk and help protect communities. These investments continue as CAL FIRE awards $10 million in grants supporting 17 projects across California.
