Fall has officially arrived, which means winter is right around the corner, so it’s time for us to preview our first issue of the year, which is currently shipping to ski shops and subscribers across Canada.

In celebration of his incredible life, and to honour his memory and inspiring legacy in one of the most meaningful ways that we can, on the cover is Kai Smart at MomentumCamps (which is owned and operated by his parents, John & Julia Smart) at WhistlerBlackcomb, B.C., as shot by Ilanna.tv. Kai, a beloved member of the Whistler and freeskiing community, was tragically taken from us far too soon after being caught in avalanche this past spring in Japan. To learn more about Kai, please follow LiveLikeKaiFoundation.

Inside you’ll find a heartfelt tribute to Kai by our editor; our biggest and best Buyer’s Guide yet, which is supplemented by our sixth annual ski test at RedResort in Rossland, B.C.; a look at the past, present and future of the junior competitive freeride scene in Western Canada; the history of the ultimate après-ski beverage, the Shaft; a chance for one of our lucky female readers to win a pair of K2.Skis’ revamped Anthem ski boots, and much, much more.

Follow the link in our profile for a full preview of this issue and to subscribe to Forecast for free if you live in 🇨🇦, and then visit your friendly neighbourhood ski shop to pick up a copy while checking out the latest and greatest gear that’s featured in our Buyer’s Guide.

Here’s to the winter ahead!
