#HumansOfZipline 🤩 Bryan Kopp is our Chief Pilot for US Operations, and started off on our Flight Operations & Test team at our test flight facility. Check out what Bryan had to say about his experience with scrappy, dedicated teams at Zipline:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"I spent my first month at Zipline as a contractor. My first day was building the updated hangar structure that’s still at our NestX test site. I got pulled into everything: flights, aircraft maintenance, equipment, people. There was such a broad scope of things we were working on. I was often out in the cold winter mud waiting in a field for a box to be dropped. What was crazy was the juxtaposition between a high tech company and the farm work that occurred everyday. In this specific instance, I remember being in the middle of cow pasture when Eric Watson drove out to make me a Full Time offer. Even now, anytime I drive out there I remember the moment I joined Zipline. There was no fanfare, no magic in the regular sense - I was just standing in this muddy field, literally boots on the ground with Eric, and I felt like I was being unleashed to contribute anything and everything possible to make this project work.

…Another great example of this no-frills, one team energy: A few years ago, our team was really motivated to help the entire cohort working really hard to get our Sparrow drone model validated, and decided to perform a 24 hour test sprint to stay on schedule. We asked for cross-functional support, and had some great volunteers from the engineering discipline. For example, without hesitation, Thomas Elliot said he’d come up on a Saturday and camp out for the duration. We started sprinting at 8a. By nightfall, we'd discovered some new bugs in the code and would walk over to Thomas's car, gently knocking on his windows to wake him up, then he'd help troubleshoot and make adjustments. He just stuck through it with us to make sure it worked. People at Zipline are bought in and committed, ready to help out their teammates. It does a lot for morale to see this kind of collaboration and support in action, and we've continued to strive to uphold this as we grow." ❤️
