Meet Kevin LeLaurin! Kevin is coming up on 2 years at Zipline - He joined December 2017, originally as an Assembly Technician when we were just launching the Robin model of our drones, and now he leads the Vehicle team. Kevin has a background in criminology and education.

In 2017, I had been volunteering with the Red Cross during the Santa Rosa fires in 2017. Someone there from the National Guard told me drones were the future and that I should join and learn how to build them. At the time, I had put pause on my legal career and had started working as a substitute teacher at vocational schools with kids who had gotten into trouble. Shortly thereafter, I found myself at a Christmas party bringing up my recent conversation about drones to my friend Domenic. He told me about Zipline…One thing led to another and here I am.

I figure that we only have what, 80 or so years on this planet? What we are doing on a day to day basis is something that matters. We are building industry, carving rivulets in which streams are going to flow. I’m proud to be at a company that guarantees medical access around the world. We hear stories about the rabies patients and mothers bleeding out who were rescued on a weekly basis. We are doing this in a way that benefits the global world, which is becoming more and more connected…And I believe that’s the only way this world is going to come out of what it’s in. Bono said that we need to have the balance between commerce and community. It is becoming increasingly apparent that we need this type of thinking now more than ever. It is nice to be a part of those solutions, it’s nice to see a profound foundation for good in what the people I work with all around the globe are building. .
.
.
And that’s what’s also beautiful about this job - all of the people here have a drive to be connected and believe the most important thing to do is to raise each other up. And in the same sense, we raise up ourselves. Everyone here thinks deeply and feels intensely. We are all oceans and it just depends on how deeply we want to dive into each other. And we’re not perfect - but we aspire to be. .
