#Raekwon’s “ONLY BUILT 4 CUBAN LINX… PT. II” proved that Rae has one of the best ears for production in the game 🐺

The project was executive produced by RZA (with contributions from Busta Rhymes) and features an all-star cast of producers including RZA, J Dilla, The Alchemist, Pete Rock, Dr. Dre, Marley Marl, Mathematics, and more. Dropping in 2009, it delivered a more-than worthy sequel to the Purple Tape with a darker, more expansive sonic palette that still felt unmistakably Wu-Tang.

RZA’s beats brought that signature haunting, film-score depth, while J Dilla added soulful bounce (“House of Flying Daggers”), The Alchemist delivered chopped-up menace (“Surgical Gloves”), Pete Rock supplied golden-era warmth, and Dre brought polished West Coast muscle. The production is layered, moody, and cinematic. Dusty samples, thunderous drums, eerie strings, and intricate arrangements that paint vivid mafioso pictures across the project.

From the triumphant opener to tracks like “Pyrex Visions,” “Sonny’s Missing,” and posse-cut energy throughout, the beats elevate Rae’s storytelling into full motion-picture territory. It’s a late-career masterclass in how to update classic Wu sound with fresh, heavyweight talent while keeping the core essence intact.

A true sequel in every sense. Grimy, ambitious, and packed with elite production.

Do you feel as though the production on Raekwon’s “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II” is one of the greatest sequels to a classic we’ve ever got?
