Batman didn’t create Zur-En-Arrh because he wanted another Batman.

He created him because he was terrified that one day Bruce Wayne wouldn’t be able to be Batman anymore. Zur-En-Arrh was designed as a backup personality that could take over if Bruce’s mind was ever broken—but Bruce deliberately stripped this version of Batman of the things that could make him hesitate.

Then the contingency takes control. Now Bruce is watching his own body act like Batman, except this version doesn’t think the way he does. The question becomes terrifyingly simple: how do you stop Batman when Batman is the one you’re fighting?

Is Zur-En-Arrh Batman’s ultimate survival mechanism—or his most dangerous mistake?
