HARVEY WEINSTEIN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS ⚖️

Nine years after his downfall sparked the #MeToo movement, Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting former production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006.

The 74-year-old appeared in a Manhattan courtroom in a wheelchair, cuffed to his seat. The sentence comes after his 2020 conviction was overturned and two mistrials, before a jury convicted him again last year. Prosecutors had asked for 20 years.

“You took what you wanted by force, and you have never accepted responsibility,” Judge Curtis Farber told him. Weinstein will also face five years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.

Weinstein still denies the allegations but told the court, “I am not a perfect person,” and apologized to anyone he “may have hurt.”

His legal saga isn’t over: he still faces resentencing in California for a 2013 rape conviction.

“Today was about the survivors,” said Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
