Our next Old Master has made history as the first female president at an Indonesian higher education institution! Reini Wirahadikusumah graduated from Purdue University in 1996 with her Master of Science in Civil Engineering and went on to earn her Ph.D in Civil Engineering from the Lyles School of Civil Engineering in 1999. During her time at Purdue, she was actively involved in the Indonesian Student Association as well as the Purdue Women in Engineering Program. She has professionally worked in education for a large part of her career, and is dedicated to teaching her students, “I want to be an inspiration to the young generation through the examples of actions, with my strengths and weaknesses.” Her career accomplishments include the Head of the Graduate Program of Civil Engineering at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), the Secretary for Construction and Engineering Division (The Institution of Engineers Indonesia), the Head of Project Implementation Unit for ITB, and Head of Construction Engineering Management Research Group (ITB). Currently, Wirahadikusumah is now the President of Institut Teknologi Bandung, a renowned university located in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. She holds the title of the first woman President in the 100-year history of the university. We can’t wait to learn from such an accomplished and inspiring alumna!
