Tongan artist HEEVA, originally from Rose Park, Utah and currently based in American Fork, made history on September 12 as the first music artist ever to perform on BYUtv’s Sports Nation pregame show ahead of the BYU vs. Arizona game.

The moment was especially meaningful for HEEVA, who grew up as a BYU Football fan spending his Saturdays watching the games. Years later, he found himself on the other side of the screen, performing on the very show he grew up watching.

HEEVA also became the first Polynesian artist to perform on the show, opening the door for more Pasifika artists to take that stage.

“This moment was surreal for me. I grew up a BYU Football fan, spending my Saturdays watching the games. So for them to reach out to me and ask me to be the first artist on their show, it was a full-circle moment!”

HEEVA says he is extremely blessed and grateful for the opportunities this moment has opened up and hopes more Polynesian artists will be able to bless the stage going forward. 🙏🏽

A full-circle moment for HEEVA and another door opened for our people.
