Season 30 of The Voice is officially underway! Just one day after the premiere, the show returned Tuesday, September 22, for its second night of Blind Auditions, and Māori singer Johnnie Kapua had the coaches turning their chairs.

Johnnie Kapua took on “Die With a Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, and had Kelly Clarkson hit her button immediately, with Queen Latifah right behind her. The ladies had to duke it out for Johnnie! 👀👏🏽

“That was beautiful,” Latifah told the Māori singer, praising his performance while pointing out a few areas she felt could be coached.

Clarkson was just as impressed, praising Johnnie’s soulful delivery and unique cadence. She even hit the First-In Button, making her pitch to get him on her team.

From Aotearoa to one of the biggest stages in music, Johnnie is making the whānau proud. 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
