This question is extremely common, and I completely understand why people ask it.

Even when we were children, we were told, “Don’t touch your skin. Don’t stretch it. Treat your skin like a silk blouse.” At least, this is what we were told back in my old country.

There is a hint of truth in that advice. If you handle the face incorrectly, using too much pressure, pulling aggressively, or repeatedly creating unnecessary friction, you can irritate the skin and potentially stress the underlying tissues.

But properly performed facial massage is very different.

When we work with a light hand, appropriate pressure, correct direction, and longer, controlled strokes, we are not simply pulling and stretching the skin. Massage temporarily increases local circulation, and gentle mechanical stimulation can support normal skin function.

So yes, I believe we should massage the face, but technique matters.

Use a light hand.
Use correct strokes.
Use Langers lines.
Never aggressively pull or drag the tissues.

The goal is not to stretch the skin. The goal is to work with the anatomy of the face, not against it.

If you would like to learn more about the education we offer and the anatomically structured approach behind my method, please see the link in bio.
