This marks the single largest investment in basketball ever in this country! 🇨🇦⁣
⁣
Canada Basketball is getting its first dedicated home, backed by a $76 million investment from the federal government, topped up by $24 million from the province of Ontario to reach an even $100 million. 💰⁣
⁣
Toronto Raptors and Canada Basketball star RJ Barrett was beaming at the announcement:⁣
⁣
“I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid. I’ve had practices, games. So many of my friends, we kind of grew up here. This place has always felt like home for Canada Basketball.” 🏀⁣
⁣
The new national basketball facility will be located in Etobicoke, Ontario, at Humber’s North Campus. It will serve as a state-of-the-art community centre and Canada’s home of basketball, featuring six gyms to be used for provincial, national and international competition, as well as a high-performance training centre. 🔥⁣
⁣
This spot will also dedicate 32,000 hours of use to the community, a huge move for all hoopers. 👏⁣
