The final form before my knee surgery 🩼

Surgery has been officially scheduled for Oct 1st! 😭

Over the past 9 months since first running into issues with my knees, I’ve been trying my best to maintain as much muscle as I possibly could and I think we’ve done a pretty good job at that 🥹

It’s hard to say whether or not I’ve been able to build a good amount of muscle for my upper body as my weight has been pretty stagnant. If I was gaining weight through muscle, I would have also dropped weight due to muscle loss in the legs if anything. But all I can say is that I have gotten stronger at least hehe

For my legs, I’ve really only been able to do hamstrings, calves and glutes. But 4 months ago my right knee started to get even worse to the point where I couldn’t even do hamstrings, which is why I have to get it fixed now.

To give you guys a bit of history with my knees, I’ve had osgood schlatter for as long as I can remember so my knees are just more prone to wear and tear.

Couple that with powerbuilding for at least 10 years where I would just try to push stupid numbers with not so optimal form and pushing through knee pain, I think that’s probably the reason why they’ve developed grade 4 chondromalacia which is the wearing of the cartilage underneath the kneecap.

Although the switch to hypertrophy 4 years ago fixed my form and knee pain, it was probably a little too late.

So for the surgery, I’ll be getting my right knee cleaned up as there’s knee bits floating around that has been causing the constant inflammation that won’t go down recently and I’ll also be getting a lateral release to realign my knee cap so that it stops grinding so much on one side to preserve as much cartilage as we can.

Supposedly I do need to get a lateral release on my left knee eventually but I don’t really want to think about that right now 😅

First the surgery, then it’s time to rebuild and then we’ll deal with what comes next later... So welcome to the rebuilding arc 😈
