Best way to plan a fall trip to New England? 🍁 The trick to seeing peak colors is going north to south. Northern Maine and New Hampshire usually peak first in late September, followed by Vermont and Massachusetts in early October, then Connecticut, Rhode Island and New York by mid-to-late October.

Check official state foliage reports throughout your trip. Conditions change quickly, and two places just a couple of hours apart can look completely different.
