One surefire way to make your life more difficult than it has to be is to have a child with the wrong person.

A lot of people get lonely, so they accept a substitute. They settle for someone who gives them comfort, intimacy, and attention, even though they don't genuinely love, respect, or admire that person.

Then a child comes out of it.

Now you've got two conflicting adults with a child caught in the middle.

Understand this:

If you don't genuinely love the person, cherish them, respect them, and share a similar mission, vision, values, attitudes, and interests, your life can become exponentially more complicated than it needs to be.

Having a child isn't just about whether you want to have a baby.

It's about whether you want this person to be the co-parent of your child for the rest of your life.

There's a huge difference between:

"I want to have sex with this person because I'm lonely."

And:

"I would trust this person to help raise my child."

Don't confuse intimacy with compatibility.

Loneliness is temporary.

Co-parenting with the wrong person can last a lifetime.

Choose accordingly.
