What began as an exciting day for Wolfpack fans turned into a nightmare in the blink of an eye.

Bailey did everything right for 59 minutes and 59 seconds. Throwing a total of 275 yards and responsible for three touchdown passes, Bailey brought the game the fans have been patiently waiting for.

With six seconds remaining and the Pack holding possession, NC State needed only to run out the clock and prevent Vanderbilt from getting one final opportunity. Instead, Bailey attempted to run out the clock in the end zone. He was tackled and fumbled, allowing the Commodores to recover the ball in scoring territory, giving Vanderbilt an automatic touchdown, making it one hell of a football game for the Vanderbilt fans.

One second was put on the board for the Wolfpack to try and make up for its mistake, but it wasn’t enough to take back what it had already lost.

NC State football leaves this game behind and returns to Carter-Finley to host Appalachian State University on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m.
