📍Welcome to our Study Abroad Spotlight! 📍We will highlight COMM studies faculty and students' time in the Study Abroad program. ✈️ This past Winter Session, Dr. Derme, Dr. Kreiser, and CSULB students went to Barcelona, Spain. 🇪🇸

Today we will be spotlighting Dr. Kreiser's experience going abroad.✨

Dr. Kreiser taught COMM 411: Interpersonal Conflict Resolution (through a cultural perspective) during her visit. 📓 One of her favorite memories from the trip was going to La Sagrada Familia. Additionally, she found that the most meaningful times were when their group spent quality time together during their cooking class 🥘 or during their Farewell Dinner. 🍽

Dr. Kreiser shares two phrases regarding the Study Abroad program: 1-"Study Abroad Makes Your World Bigger" 🗺 and 2-"The World is Your Classroom." 📖 The first phrase helps students get perspective on self, culture, and people. "Study Abroad is adventurous and brave because it creates endless opportunities to be open to the people and their cultures," she shares. 📚 As for the second phrase, she explains, "Whether our students are in the classroom or studying abroad outside of the classroom, the learning never stops. 🧠 You learn from classes, of course, but you also learn from interacting with people, shopping, bargaining, listening, observing, etc."

Lastly, Dr. Kresier shares her experience planning the Study Abroad program in the time of a pandemic. 🧳 “Studying Abroad is a lot of work to plan and certainly was even more work during a pandemic. But in some ways, it was more rewarding because of the challenges we had to overcome. Our students were patient, helpful, and eager to learn. We couldn't be more proud of Barcelona 2022!" she says. 💫
