📍Welcome to our Study Abroad Spotlight, highlighting COMM faculty and students who participated in the study abroad program. ✈️ This past winter session, Dr. Derme, Dr. Kreiser, and CSULB students went to Barcelona, Spain. 🇪🇸

Today we will be spotlighting Aminata Ba's experience going abroad.✨

Aminata is a senior majoring in communication studies. She took COMM 411: Interpersonal Conflict Resolution with Dr. Kreiser. Aminata shares her learning experience abroad. 
"Taking COMM 411 with Dr. Kreiser in Barcelona has become my favorite college experience so far. We got to look at conflict resolution from an intercultural perspective. We would apply the materials we were covering to our own interactions with Spaniards. Since our class was small, it felt like a safe space where we could interact and engage with one another openly. Overall, it was a nontraditional way of learning. One of my favorite memories is when we went to a café with Dr. Kreiser, and we had breakfast while discussing the class material." 

She shares another fond memory from her trip. 
"My favorite memory was when we took a day trip to visit Girona, situated in the northeast part of Spain. We started by visiting the Dalí Theatre-Museum, which is a museum that Salvador Dalí designed himself and where he is buried. The art in the museum was jaw-dropping, and the fact that Dalí thought of the museum himself made it feel special. Then we took a guided stroll in the city. The city has such a rich historical background. It's very colorful and beautiful. It's also where they filmed many scenes from the show, 'Games of Thrones,' so seeing it in person was truly incredible. The whole day felt so authentic and so unique. It's a memory I will hold on to for a long time."
