#TSRUpdatez: #TSRPrayersUp—Earlier this year, former NFL running back #ChrisJohnson revealed his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. In a new interview with people, Chris and his wife open up about the nervous system disease, and how it’s impacted their lives.

While speaking with the outlet, Chris and his wife, Brittany, shared the signs they noticed before he received an official diagnosis. Chris said, “I’d be in the gym and notice my right hand wasn’t as strong as it had always been.”

He shared that he and Brittany initially thought it was a result of playing football for many years. Brittany also shared a moment when he said his Stanley Cup had become too heavy for him. That’s when they realized it wasn’t an injury.

Chris said, “ALS has taken away a lot of my independence. As a father, your first instinct is to protect your kids. You don’t want them to be scared or feel like their whole world is changing.” He expressed that the hardest part is “Having your mind still completely there, while your body stops doing things you’ve done your entire life.”

He added, “I still hear everything. I understand everything. I still joke, think, make decisions, get frustrated, and want to be included in conversations about my own life. ALS may change what my body can do, but it hasn’t changed who I am at my core.” (🎥: people) ✍🏾: #TSRStaffJW
