#TSRPositiveImages: Aww! #KanyeWest was in attendance Tuesday as his late mother, Professor #DrDondaWest, was honored with a street naming ceremony on Chicago’s South Side. The ceremony, held by 7th Ward Alderman Greg Mitchell, took place at 11 a.m. at the intersection of 78th Street and South Shore Drive.

The intersection will now be dedicated in Dr. West’s name in recognition of her decades-long contributions to education, literature, and Chicago’s cultural community. Dr. West served as a professor and chair of the English Department at Chicago State University, where she also established the Gwendolyn Brooks Center for Black Literature and Creative Writing. _________________________
Ye attended the ceremony but did not address the media. At the conclusion of the event, he was seen holding up the newly presented street sign bearing his mother’s name. Ye, #Rhymefest and other friends and family entered into the rapper’s former childhood home. Dr. Donda West passed away in 2007 at the age of 58.
