AI might soon start doing things before you even finish speaking. 🤯

Developer Andy Gao built a voice-controlled Mac assistant using Jev, a new model from TypeSafe AI.

In a demo shared on X on September 18, Andy begins saying, “open the notes app and create…” and the app starts opening before he has even completed the sentence.

Jev launched on September 15 and isn’t designed to work like a typical chatbot. Instead of generating long text responses, it makes rapid decisions that allow other software to take action, sometimes in just a fraction of a second.

That speed means the assistant can begin processing your request while you’re still talking.

In this particular demo, Jev decides which app should be opened. It doesn’t directly see the screen or control the keyboard, so Andy’s additional code takes care of those actions.
