CW: suicide & mental health

This year I finally feel ready to share a piece of my story.

For all my newer followers: there’s more to me than DIYs, fun trips, and cat-mom life. There’s also a side of me that gets really dark (and not in the cool, mysterious way).

I was diagnosed with depression in seventh grade. As an almost 25-year-old woman, I still handle it to this day. Four years ago it got bad enough that I didn’t want to be here anymore, and I’d isolated myself to the point where no one could see it coming. I’d hidden the darkness from everyone close to me.

There was a night I drove home from college and broke down to my family. Trusting my support system is the only way I got through the VERY dark months that followed, and therapy and medication came right behind them.

A long overdue update: I used to think the depression was my weakness. Turns out it built the STRONGEST parts of me...I take a pill every day so I can get out of bed, I’m back in the maintenance stage with monthly therapy, and I journal daily. When I don’t move my body or eat right, the whole balance tips. Some days the only thing that helps is a hug from my mom, and I’ve learned to let that be enough.

Posting the ugly crying is something I’ve never wanted to do. I love being a source of happiness and humor, but I can’t help feeling I’ve drifted from my “why.”

My “why” is so much more than crafting & cats. It’s being the kind of creator who makes YOU feel less alone and less broken. We’re all broken in our own ways, even your friendly Midwestern influencer lol 🫡✨💗

That version of me from 2022 would be amazed at who we’ve become. My life is VERY far from perfect, but I’m so grateful to be here for it, and to finally have the tools I have now (shoutout EMDR therapy).

You’re not alone, no matter how alone your brain swears you are & I WANT YOU HERE.

If today is heavy, call or text 988 anytime, day or night - it is completely free, confidential, and open 24/7.
