Underoath, Louder Than Life 2026

LIVE REVIEW: Some shows go down in history. Some shows go down in infamy. But here at Louder Than Life, this Underoath show will go down as a true collector’s item. A rare gem. A performance unlike any other that those who witness it will forever say they were there for.
And it is all because of someone who isn’t actually there.
As the band takes to the stage, a figure synonymous with them from the very beginning is absent. That is Aaron Gillespie, who had a surprise medical emergency and couldn’t join his brothers in Kentucky. And even with the possibility of a cancellation on their mind, the scene staples clearly know that for one, the show always goes on and, for two, they have the chance to have some fun.
The first beat of that comes in the form of longstanding friend and former drum tech Daniel Nelson standing in behind the kit, who has absolutely nailed everything thrown at him on two days’ notice, particularly on a blistering ‘Illuminator’ and chest-thumping ‘Generation No Surrender’.
The second element then comes in the form of Atreyu’s own Brandon Saller, joining the gang to deliver some of Aaron’s iconic vocals and add seething soul to proceedings, especially on a thrilling ‘Reinventing Your Exit’.
It’s the sort of defiance and camaraderie this scene exudes so beautifully on both sides of the barricade, and it makes for an impassioned, intense, and incredibly unique display. Decades-long friendships, sharing in songs that have defined so many different lives, all meeting at a head here. It is truly, madly, deeply as good as it gets.
A reminder that keeping on going is always the best option, and that people will always be there to support you, even when you think you’re out here alone.
