## Caption

In the first half of the twentieth century, the area around where Lincoln Center stands today was known to many as San Juan Hill. A lively cultural center, the neighborhood nurtured luminaries in ragtime, stride, jazz, bebop, mambo, visual arts, musical theater, and more.

From September 27-October 30, Lincoln Center celebrates the artistic legacy of San Juan Hill with a multi-day festival of FREE and Choose-What-You-Pay events that shine a light on the artists who created here and the community that inspired them.
