UC Berkeley moved forward with plans to turn a student-dedicated gym into a practice facility for Cal men’s and women’s basketball, despite a unanimous decision against it from the Recreation & Wellbeing Board of Governors.

The RecWell Board of Governors, a policy committee for campus’ Recreational Sports Facility, voted unanimously against the move to give RSF’s Blue Gym to Cal Athletics this spring.

The Blue Gym, which previously served intramural and club sports, is now being renovated for Cal basketball using a $10 million commitment from the Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund.
