High school football in Alaska is DIFFERENT 🥶

A look at what practices look like at Barrow HS (AK).

(via CoachCBattle/X)

Barrow High School is located in Utqiagvik, Alaska, one of the northernmost communities in the United States. Playing football in that environment means dealing with conditions unlike almost anywhere else in the country, and this practice gives a pretty good idea of what the Whalers can face as the season moves deeper into the fall.

Barrow is off to a 3-1 start to the 2026 season. The Whalers opened the year with a 48-12 win over Houston before following it up with another dominant performance, beating Redington 40-6. Their first loss came in a close one against Kenai Central on September 12, falling 20-18.

Through four games, Barrow has scored 124 points while allowing just 58. The Whalers will look to keep their strong start going as they continue through the 2026 Alaska high school football season. 🥶
