Former WNBA player Renee Montgomery joins Kelley L. Carter on The Trade with Kelley L. Carter to discuss retirement, athlete guilt and finding purpose beyond the court. She explains why she still watches basketball like a point guard, but does not miss wondering whether someone is outworking her. Montgomery also reflects on opting out in 2020 and the community support that followed her announcement. Her advice to athletes entering a new chapter is to keep studying, accept constructive criticism and keep growing, even in unfamiliar spaces.
