Summer is almost officially over, Boston.

The autumnal equinox takes place on Tuesday, September 22, at approximately 8:05 PM EDT, marking the start of astronomical fall. Published calculations vary slightly, with some sources listing 8:04 PM or 8:06 PM.

Meteorological fall began on September 1, but Tuesday marks the astronomical change of seasons.

Now we wait for the leaves to catch up.

By the way, we have a weekly newsletter rounding up what’s worth doing and knowing about in Boston. One newsletter. Once a week. Link in bio.
