🕊️ What can space teach us about peace? On this International Day of Peace, the Space for Peace Symposium at the Vienna International Centre explored how space can foster cooperation, understanding and a shared sense of responsibility.

🌍Astronauts astropontes and prunariu and citizen astronaut astrosarasabry reflected on the Overview Effect: how seeing Earth from orbit can transform our perspective on our shared humanity.

🔭 Fr. Richard D’Souza of the Vatican Observatory reminded us that across civilizations, people have looked to the same sky and asked the same fundamental questions.

📡 A live satellite link to a Whizz Education classroom in Kenya showed how space infrastructure supports communities, from education to disaster response.

As space activities grow, strong governance and international cooperation are essential to keep space a domain for cooperation, not competition.

Peaceful, safe and sustainable use of outer space isn’t an aspiration — at UNOOSA, it’s our mandate. 🌍🕊️

Thank you to the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the International Organizations in Vienna, the Foundation Caritas in Veritate, thekarmanproject and spacehumanity for helping create an inspiring morning.
