In Focus: Isamu Noguchi’s sculptures for play, as featured at Lever House in New York

Expanding beyond sculpture, ‘Isamu Noguchi at Lever House’ highlights Noguchi’s prolific and multifaceted practice. Noguchi approached sculpture as an expansive discipline that encompassed furniture and lighting designs, playgrounds, stage sets, landscapes, and gardens.

The sculptures ‘Octetra’ (1965) and ‘Play Sculpture’ (c. 1965–80) are on view in the building’s courtyards, functioning simultaneously as abstract sculpture and children’s play equipment.

📍 ‘Isamu Noguchi at Lever House’ is on view until 31 August 2027 at Lever House, New York.
