Ye made sure nobody else was unveiling his mother’s street sign 😭❤️

Ye returned to Chicago today as the city officially unveiled “Honorary Dr. Donda West Way” near 78th & South Shore Drive. When the alderman began to unveil the sign himself, Ye stepped in and made it clear that was a job he wanted to handle personally 🥹

The honor also goes much deeper than her being Ye’s mother. Dr. Donda West spent 24 years at Chicago State University, chaired its English department and founded the Gwendolyn Brooks Center for Black Literature and Creative Writing. Nearly 19 years after her passing, her name now permanently sits in the South Shore community where she raised her son ❤️

Congratulations and rest in peace to her 🕊️
