Claude Opus 5.5 is reportedly creating paintings entirely through code.

No traditional image generator. No reference image. Instead, Claude uses Python and standard programming libraries to build the artwork pixel by pixel, with some examples requiring roughly 7,500 lines of generated code.

What interests me most is what this represents.

AI is moving beyond simply prompting specialized tools. Increasingly, the model can reason through the underlying medium and construct the final artifact itself.

In this case, the paintbrush is code.
