The quantum computer may not replace the supercomputer. It may become part of it.

IonQ’s Superion 256 is set to become the first quantum processor installed on premises at NVIDIA’s Accelerated Quantum Research Center in 2027.

It will connect directly to NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL72 infrastructure through NVQLink, with hybrid workloads coordinated using CUDA Q.

That architecture matters.

For years, quantum computing has largely been discussed as a separate computing paradigm. What is emerging instead is a hybrid stack where different processors handle the problems they are best suited for.

CPU for general computation.

GPU for massively parallel computation.

QPU for specific problems where quantum mechanics may eventually provide an advantage.

One system.

That could be how quantum computing actually enters the mainstream computing stack.
