You cannot see the shape of a lake from the bank.

Twenty minutes with the camera up tells you more about a water than a day walking it. The shape of the bay, the bar running out from the point, the colour change where the gravel starts, the corner every wind pushes into. From the bank you are guessing at all of it, and you will fish the swim that looks nice instead of the one that is right.

You do not have to fly anything to use this either. Half the waters you fish already have an aerial online, and the satellite view is free. Look at the shape before you book, not after you arrive.
