WHAT DOES THE WEEK AFTER A HYROX RACE ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?

As much as I would like to go back into normal training, this is not ideal and usually body fights against me when I try.

The race is the stimulus.
Recovery is where we actually absorb it.

The week after a Hyrox, my goal is to get my body ready to train hard again.

Here’s what that typically looks like:

DAY 1–2:
Very easy movement.
Walking
Easy bike / flush work if it feels good
Mobility
Eat. A LOT.
Hydrate + replace what you lost racing
Prioritize sleep…(this one is really difficult for me after a race)

DAY 3–4:
Easy aerobic work if my body is ready.
Think conversational pace.

Some mobility + light strength can come back in, but nothing that creates significant soreness or fatigue.

DAY 5–7:
Gradually start moving toward normal training.

But I’m still paying attention to how my body responds.

I don’t use the calendar to decide when I’m recovered. I use my body.

If my legs feel heavy, my resting HR is elevated, my sleep is poor, or easy work feels unusually hard, that’s information.

The goal is to come out of the week feeling better than when we went into it. This way we can start stacking quality training again.

We get faster from being able to consistently absorb the work.

Race hard.
Recover harder.
Then get back to work.
