What if the reason you can’t solve the problem is because you’ve misidentified it?

One of the most dangerous things about being smart and capable is that you can become VERY good at solving the wrong problem.

You decide sales are down because of marketing, so you pour more money into marketing.

You decide you’re exhausted because you need better discipline, so you optimize your schedule.

You decide something isn’t working because you aren’t trying hard enough, so you simply try harder.

But what if none of those things are actually the problem?

In this week’s episode of COACHED, kevindstclergy and I talk about Blind Blaming, our tendency to diagnose what’s wrong based on the information, assumptions and biases already available to us.

And sometimes, the breakthrough isn’t another solution.

It’s a better question.

What am I not seeing?

What else could be going on here?

What would someone outside of this situation notice that I can’t?

Growth doesn’t always come from finding more answers.

Sometimes it comes from finally questioning the answer you’ve been operating from.
