This Finish Line Friday deserved a permanent spot on the feed! 🤩

This past weekend I gave it my all and PRed my half by almost 11 minutes! But how did I get there? 

It’s been no secret that I was struggling earlier this year, my mental health was in the garbage and my physical health was close behind. I took charge of what I could change and told myself I would bounce back stronger. 

Since training for NYC I’ve incorporated speed work into my weekly schedule and I can honestly say I’ve felt a huge difference! The workouts are HARD but they push me to a point where I can feel myself improving. I’ve dialed in my fueling on race day as well as the days leading up to the race, along with prioritizing rest when it’s needed. 

The biggest factor, however, was my self confidence and believing in myself! After a very long period of not doing that, I have surrounded myself with a support system that has helped me believe in myself in ways I never dreamed of. Between my boyfriend texting me in the last few miles and waiting at the finish line, my best friend telling me she thought I could go sub 2, Food Club hyping me up and all my other friends encouraging me I felt like I was on top of the world those last few miles. 

It takes a lot of things to fall into place to have a race like this and I know it could have gone the other way. But I’m so proud of myself and so grateful for all of the support!

Now let’s see what I can accomplish at the NYC Marathon!!
