For 21 seasons, Justin Verlander has been one of the defining pitchers of his generation. From his MLB debut with the Tigers in 2005 to three Cy Young Awards, an MVP, two World Series titles, 266 wins and 3,560 strikeouts, his career has been built on dominance, resilience and longevity.

Today, Verlander made his final MLB start back where it all began: Detroit’s Comerica Park. At 43, he pitched 5⅓ innings against the Pirates, striking out six. But the most emotional moment came when his daughter ran onto the field and into his arms. After more than two decades of baseball, the emotions finally caught up with him.

There was something incredibly fitting about the ending. Verlander began his journey in Detroit as a young pitcher with everything ahead of him—and ended it there, surrounded by his family and the fans who watched his entire story unfold. From his first strikeout to his final one, it truly felt like the end of an era.
