The most famous car ever built was only offered in one color.
ㅤ
Black.
ㅤ
But what most people don't know is it didn't actually start that way.
ㅤ
See when @ford started building the Model T in 1908, it actually came in red, gray, green, and blue.
ㅤ
But when they opened their state of the art assembly line in 1914, suddenly they only offered black.
ㅤ
Ford's new assembly line was actually so good, it turns out the slowest part of the process was literally watching paint dry.
ㅤ
So they developed a new paint formula that dried more quickly, and since it only came in black, they didn't have to keep track of multiple colors. This made production even quicker.
ㅤ
The Highland Park assembly plant brought production times down from twelve and a half hours per car, to ninety three minutes.
ㅤ
Since the Model T was now cheaper and faster to make, Ford could build more than anyone else. In fact they made two million Model Ts in 1923 alone.
ㅤ
Which to this day holds the record for the highest annual production run for any car ever.
