1 year ago, Ice Spice released “Baddie Baddie.”

RiotUSA, Ice Spice's longtime collaborator and the producer behind her breakout hit "Munch (Feelin' U)," produced 'Baddie Baddie,' released through 10K Projects and Capitol Records as her first solo single since the December 2024 deluxe edition of her debut album, 'Y2K!' Sampling M.I.A.'s 2012 hit "Bad Girls," the track leans into the rapper's signature bratty, unbothered swagger, with Ice Spice spitting confidently over the reworked hook about giving people exactly the bop they'd been asking for.

The release marked what the label framed as the start of a new creative chapter, following a busy stretch that had already included her film debut in Spike Lee's 'Highest 2 Lowest' alongside Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky, plus a surprise collaboration with Latto, 'Gyatt,' that had dropped just weeks earlier. George and Frederick Buford, the directing duo known as the Evil Twins who'd previously worked on hits like "Gimmie a Light" and her platinum-certified "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2" with PinkPantheress, helmed the accompanying music video, which racked up over 7 million views within its first two weeks.

The single arrived amid a particularly active period for Ice Spice, who was also gearing up for a voice role and original song in that December's 'The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.' Building on a run that already included four Grammy nominations and over 2.5 billion career streams, 'Baddie Baddie' continued reinforcing her reputation as one of New York rap's most consistent hitmakers heading into the back half of 2025.
