Taraji P. Henson is bringing a REAL-LIFE story of faith, second chances and family to the screen, and the story behind this movie is something you have to hear.

In ‘Give Me Some Sugah’, Taraji plays Lenore Lindsey, a Chicago baker who finally pursued her dream of owning her own bakery after putting that dream away for 30 years. But the bakery would eventually lead to a discovery Lenore never could have imagined.

One of her longtime customers, Vamarr Hunter, learned he had been adopted and underwent genetic testing. The results revealed that the woman who had been serving him at her bakery was actually his biological mother.

Their story eventually became one of reunion, healing and making the most of the time they have together. When Lenore later faced a health crisis, Vamarr stepped in to help run the bakery, even though he had no experience baking.

Taraji says what drew her to Lenore was her resilience and her decision to pursue a dream she had buried for decades. Her message from the film? It’s never too late to take a chance on yourself.

With Tasha Smith directing and Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin producing, this one already has our attention.

Give Me Some Sugah premieres on Netflix December 16.
