I get asked this a lot and it’s really hard to put into a 2 minute video. But if I had to, I’d say… Relationship first. Make sure the dog likes you. Read the dog.  Maximise clarity. Make it fun. Add aversive control.  Your dog’s safety (and the safety of the people and animals around them) is YOUR responsibility. Everything else is about using the right tools, timing, rewards, and consequences for the dog, behavior, and situation in front of you.
