📉 According to Gallup, self-reported obesity in the US fell from a record 39.9% in 2022 to 37% in 2025 — an estimated 7.6 million fewer obese Americans. (Gallup, 2025)

⚠️ the official measured obesity rate is still 40.3% and holding steady (CDC NHANES 2021–23; Trust for America’s Health, Sept 2026). So this is an early signal).

💉 What’s driving it? According to KFF, 1 in 8 US adults is currently on a GLP-1 like Ozempic, and nearly 1 in 5 has tried one. And among those who’ve ever used one, seven in ten used it at least in part to treat a chronic condition like diabetes or heart disease — only 3 in 10 used it just to lose weight. Experts think the drugs are starting to show up in the national numbers. (KFF Health Tracking Poll)

🛒 It’s rewiring the economy too: Cornell found GLP-1 households cut grocery spending 5.3% within six months, and fast-food/coffee spending dropped about 8%. (Cornell, Journal of Marketing Research, Dec 2025)

📉 McDonald’s stock is down ~21% over the last year. Not saying the drug did that — but when America eats less, Wall Street notices.

⚖️ The dark side: about 4,000 federal lawsuits allege GLP-1 stomach injuries, and 216 allege sudden vision loss (NAION). Allegations — not proven causation. (Federal GLP-1 MDLs, Sept 2026)
