🇺🇸 America’s favorite vehicles change dramatically depending on which state you call home, and the latest registration data shows just how regional the U.S. car market remains.

Ford’s F-Series is the clearest heavyweight, finishing as the best-selling vehicle in 29 states based on 2025 new retail registrations.

Pickup trucks remain especially dominant across much of the Midwest and South, where the F-Series continues to command huge buyer loyalty.

California breaks sharply from that pattern, with the Tesla Model Y taking the state’s best-selling-vehicle spot in the 2025 registration data.

The Model Y also finished first in Nevada and Washington, giving Tesla three state victories concentrated in the West.

SUVs are now the broader force behind the market, accounting for 60.9% of the new retail registrations included in Edmunds’ 2025 analysis.

Nearly one-quarter of those registrations were electrified vehicles, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids and EVs, while California approached 50%.

The results are based on new vehicles registered to individual retail buyers, excluding rental fleets and government registrations, so they represent a specific slice of the American vehicle market rather than every vehicle already on the road.

From EV-heavy western states to pickup-dominated regions, the map shows just how much geography still shapes what Americans actually put in their driveways.

Which vehicle brand do you think makes the best cars in America?

What are your thoughts? 🤔💭
