🥹 Twenty years later, this Cars scene still hits just as hard.
⠀
During the final Piston Cup race, Chick Hicks deliberately sends The King into a devastating crash while Lightning McQueen has a clear path to victory.
⠀
Instead of taking the championship, McQueen stops just inches from the finish line and drives back to help the injured veteran.
⠀
He then pushes The King across the finish line so the legendary racer can complete the final race of his career.
⠀
The decision costs Lightning the Piston Cup, allowing Chick Hicks to take the title instead.
⠀
But it completes McQueen’s transformation from a rookie obsessed with trophies and fame into someone who understands that some things matter more than winning.
⠀
The King was even voiced by real NASCAR legend Richard Petty, giving the moment an extra connection to racing history.
⠀
Is this still the greatest scene in the entire Cars franchise?
⠀
What are your thoughts? 🤔💭
