🔥🏁 The 2019 Thai Grand Prix gave MotoGP one of the best rookie-versus-champion battles of the modern era.
⠀
Fabio Quartararo led most of the race on the Petronas Yamaha SRT while Marc Márquez stalked him lap after lap with his sixth premier-class title within reach.
⠀
Quartararo was still chasing the first MotoGP victory of his career, while Márquez only needed the right result to seal the championship in Thailand.
⠀
On the final lap, Márquez made his move at Turn 3 and finally took the lead after spending almost the entire race behind the rookie.
⠀
Quartararo refused to give up and launched one last attack into the final corner, briefly getting alongside before running slightly wide.
⠀
Márquez cut back underneath and won the race by just 0.171 seconds, securing his sixth MotoGP World Championship and eighth world title overall.
⠀
Quartararo had to settle for second, but the performance made it obvious that a new star had arrived in the premier class.
⠀
Was this one of the best final-lap MotoGP battles of the 2010s?
