This last month was my hardest parenting era ever. The boys have been so sick, my sleep deprivation at an all time high, and a genuine feeling of being under water. But this last weekend felt like a breath of fresh air. 

I do not take it lightly or for granted that I have the worlds greatest girls in my corner — a true village I have built for decades. And to have one of them living down the street from me? It’s a life saving gift. 

We met in college and her boys are the same ages as Thea and Nathan. We have been in each other’s lives through every version of ourselves — before kids, during kids, completely undone by kids.

And this weekend had no plans. No itinerary. Zero effort. Just her family and mine, in the same space, existing together.

Some of the best days of my life have looked exactly like that. Nothing happening. Everything happening.

That’s the village. That’s the whole thing. 🤍
