Remembering Carl Laemmle. 🎬

87 years ago today, on September 24, 1939, motion picture pioneer Carl Laemmle passed away at the age of 72.

Laemmle founded the company that became Universal Pictures and opened Universal City in 1915, creating a motion picture production center where visitors could also watch movies being made.

More than a century later, Universal City remains home to Universal’s historic studio and Universal Studios Hollywood.

Today we remember the man whose vision helped create a place that would become an enduring part of motion picture and theme park history.
