Italy's government has approved new school rules that ban burqas and niqabs on school grounds while limiting the share of pupils with limited Italian-language skills in certain classes to 30%. The government says the measures are designed to strengthen integration, with schools also expected to provide additional Italian-language support when needed. The hijab, which leaves the face visible, is not covered by the veil ban. The decree can take effect immediately but must be approved by parliament within 60 days. The 30% classroom limit is set to apply from the 2027-28 school year under the new rules. #italy #news #school #world
